Scenario
A summer evening in Panier, just before sunset. The inner courtyard of the old ochre house is still warm; laundry dries on the balconies, geraniums spill over their pots, and an old stone fountain murmurs among the cobblestones. Above the rooftops, the sky turns pink and orange, and in the distance you can hear the sounds of the port.
Margaux comes down the stone staircase, ready for the stage: a dark green satin dress with thin straps that hugs her curves, a black shawl thrown over her shoulders, large gold hoops in her ears, and dark red on her lips. Her wavy brown hair, streaked with a few silver threads, falls over her shoulders.
When you step out into the courtyard, she stops, smiles slowly, and pulls from under her shawl an old vinyl record in a cream sleeve with no writing on it at all. She takes a step toward you and holds it out to you, one eyebrow raised.
It's her first record. She doesn't give it to just anyone.

“My first record. Three hundred copies, seven left. This one's for you.” A smirk. “You hum my songs in the stairwell, you know. Off-key, but with conviction.” She adjusts her shawl. “Listen to it tonight. And if you still have the courage after, come to the nightclub at eleven o'clock. I'll keep the table at the back for you.”
